The Animation Academy, Loughborough University, UK, in conjunction with HEART (Healing Education Animation Research Therapy), presents:
ANIMATION AND PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT SYMPOSIUM 2018 (APES 18)
TUESDAY 22nd MAY 2018
BEAUMANOR HALL, WOODHOUSE EAVES, LEICESTERSHIRE LE12 8TX
CALL FOR PAPERS: SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
APES 18 invites ground-breaking research on a plethora of areas associated to animation practice and public engagement, to offer an alternative view of the capabilities of animation and to identify new terrains in the connection of animation and the engaged public.
APES 18 follows on from previous year’s highly successful symposium and this year will be taking place on Tuesday 22nd May 2018 at
Beaumanor Hall, Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire, LE12 8TX. Beaumanor Hall has been chosen to provide a holistic and therapeutic environment for this particular event. It is a Victorian country house located in Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire, set in 34 acres of idyllic countryside. It will provide an opportunity to escape from the strains and stresses of life, whilst enjoying the sharing of practice in animation and its subsequent themes and areas.
The history of Beaumanor Hall also plays a part within film and influenced the making of ' The Imitation Game' directed by Morten Tyldum where during World War II, the English mathematical genius Alan Turing tries to crack the German Enigma code with help from fellow mathematicians.
APES 18 welcomes proposals for individual papers, presentations, short film screenings; photographic essays, interactive talks and alternative presentation styles. We would also like to invite scholars and professionals from a variety of fields identifying the cross disciplinary nature of animation.
Submissions are sought that respond to one or more of the following themes and we encourage submissions from disciplines outside of film and animation that show a cross disciplinary nature.
We welcome papers that investigate surrounding practices of animation and its related research on:
Health and Well-Being
