Professor Tim Brennan

Professor Tim Brennan is a Professor of Fine Art at Massey University, Wellington, New Zealand.  He is also an artist who has exhibited internationally. His subject area and focus in research and practice is the notion of discursive practice through performance, photography, sculpture, writing, publication, drawing, curating and teaching.  This spans over twenty years. During the last ten years, he has developed a methodology based on walking and conversation as art (manoeuvre). This work lies amidst the traditions of performance art, loco-description, history and journeying, and appears as an exponential mode of radical travel-writing. Professor Tim Brennan has recently completed an AHRB (arts and Humanities Research Board) three year fellowship at the University of Sunderland and completed a PhD collating all his previous work.  Professor Tim Brennan has been quoted as “one of the most important practitioners to contribute to the social and political role of contemporary art and has been cited as developing and applying the concerns of minimalism, performance, land art and conceptualism within the social fabric.”
