About the Festival
'HIAF’ is an international animation festival that showcases the work of filmmakers with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
Hosted in Loughborough, the home of the Animation Academy, a world leading centre for animation research, scholarship, practice and exhibition; the Loogaborooga Festival, a festival for children’s illustrated literature and the original home of Ladybird Books; it shows how Loughborough has had a long association with storytelling, creativity and the arts. Therefore, a perfect place to showcase the talents of children, young people, adults and professionals in animation.
The festival works in collaboration with Loughborough University, Healing Education Animation Research Therapy (HEART), and Texas Tech University in the USA. The festival is part of HEART’s annual international SYMPOSIUM; Animation for public Engagement Symposium (APES).
