Jessica Rutherford is a researcher and teacher of Animation at Loughborough University. Jessica’s main area of research explores the use of animation within a primary school educational setting particularly with children who are disengaged from the educational system. Her current research explores the use of animation when working with children who have a diagnosis of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome.
Jessica acted as Research Assistant on HEART’s Equine Therapy project, exploring the impact of Equine Therapy on war veterans suffering with PTSD. Previously, Jessica worked in an education and care centre where she had the opportunity to teach animation to young people who had a complex mix of social, emotional and behavioural problems. Jessica loves teaching and seeing her participants develop and grow, and particularly enjoys using her skills and knowledge of animation practice to benefit the lives of others in previously unexplored ways.
